JOE ARMON JONES & GOYA GUMBANI FIX IT
UK jazz is becoming more innovative as time goes on. Today we hear the new single 'Fix It' from London keys player and producer Joe Armon Jones and MC Goya Gumbani, who hails from New York but resides in London. Kicking off 'Fix It', Joe Armon Jones provides a silky keyboard loop, propped against a measured beat. Goya Gumbani's rap has the kind of laid-back energy that can be heard in the voice of one of our favourite current London artists, Alfa Mist. But Gumbani's accent and flow brings a different kind of big apple ease that makes London feel like a magical place when he talks about 'Running round Dean Street', and having 'Bloodshot eyes and you know it's from the smoke'; which could be about the pollution in the air as much as it could be about getting stoned. Joe Armon Jones makes space for jazzy wig-out on the keys towards the end of the track, allowing us a moment to be pensive. Check out 'Fix It' here. -Ellie Rose-Davies
